Orange 15

I stopped in Peace Camera the other day, mainly out of boredom, to do some looking around and I saw a table full of bargain filters that I assume they were just trying to get rid of. I picked up a 58mm circular polarizer and a Tiffen 77mm Orange 15 filter for only five bucks each. Now, I didn't really know what to do with an orange filter, but for five dollars I didn't really care. Turns out they are awesome for black and white photography. Apparently they are mainly used for bringing out contrast in blue skies. I played around with it a little and it turned out to be an incredible purchase.

I put it to use yesterday during the snow "storm" we had in Raleigh. I was working so I didn't have a lot of time to shoot, but I was able to find some time before the sun went down.

We had a few inches of snow, enough to make everyone in the Triangle panic and stock up on bread and milk. It also was cause to drive like even more of a moron than usual. Leaving for work in the morning was a serious issue. It took me almost 30 minutes to get from exit 273 to exit 274 because a van full of Mexicans careened into the wall, blocking all 4 lanes of traffic.

The snow was pretty though.

This is really cool stuff man. No. 2 makes Raleighwood look like a wasteland.
