Leah and I took a trip to the beach last week. I hadn't seen my parents or brother since Christmas, and they hadn't seen my new car yet, so I used an otherwise free weekend as an opportunity to go home. It was nice to be home and be in the same room with my entire family for more than a few minutes, which doesn't happen often. Aside from making a trip to Scott's house one afternoon, the rest of the trip was pretty much spent relaxing around my house.
I didn't shoot as much as I wanted to, but I was able to turn my camera on once or twice.
This is Kitten, my old cat that I got for my tenth birthday. She's been sick and has lost a lot of weight, but she seems to be doing ok for the time being.
We took a drive to the beach just for something to do, and what happened there was a rare occurence. Leah allowed me to take pictures of her. I wanted to play with my new 5-in-1 reflector, and she humored me. It was coldy and very windy, so trying to handle a collapsible reflector and shoot at the same time was tedious. The sun was over her left shoulder at about a 45 degree angle, so it was bright and her face was completely shadowed. I got the best results when I mounted my flash on camera and pointed it 90 degrees to my left, directly into the gold side of the reflector. Considering we were only there for a minute before we both got impatient, I think it turned out ok.
What's left of the circle in Atlantic Beach is nothing like it used to be. I almost don't recognize it any more. It won't be long before everything is demolished in favor of generic condos. Despite being only a few yards from the water, this hotel is completely abandoned.
